A 12AT7 has lower gain than a 12AX7 (a gain of 70 compared to the gain of 100 in the 12AX7).
The 12AT7 can handle and deliver more current so it is used for things like the Reverb driver in a Fender, in which it is configured as a small power tube, and as the driver/phase inverter in many different amp designs.
Good ones like these make your amp sound smoother and sweeter, with better balance and very good power.
These tubes are tubes and will work in any amp Vintage or current manufacture, including: Fender, Gibson, Marshall, Torres Engineering, Vox, Alamo, Kalamazoo, HiWatt, Orange, Silvertone, Supro, Sound City, Matt, Traynor, Carvin, Silvertone, Bogen, Gretsch, Harmony, Valco, Wards, Airline, Kay, Krank, B-52, Ibanez, Epiphone, Crate, Ampeg, Danelectro, Peavey, Washburn, Sovtek, EH, Matchless, Mesa Boogie, Soldano, Park, Sundown, Rivera, Acoustic, Bogner, Sunn, Top Hat, Kitty Hawk, Laney,Top Hat, Trainwreck, Yamaha, Groove Tubes, MusicMan, Garnet, Selmer, Aims, Standel, Magnatone, Masco, Premier, Univox, Valco, Sho-Bud, Watkins, Tiesco, Dynacord- and lots more!
