"Press release"
Update from Dan Torres: May 27th 2003
I am recovered from my Surgery with no ill effects from the actual surgical procedure. The Community Hospital of Monterey (a private hospital) was really great with really good care and very high tech surgical procedures. We are not absolutely sure if all my symptoms were cured with this procedure. It may take some more time.
Presently I have 5 scars on my abdomen that have healed well and do not hurt anymore. The only left over problem right now is some mobility. Until the muscle structure is repaired from this and a previous surgery, I can not lift as much as I would like. Things like an Ampeg SVT or a Mesa Boogie Bass 400 are almost impossible!!
Thanks to everyone who called, came in, E-Mailed and sent well wishes from all over the world - I appreciate every single one guys, it really helped me to get well and feel better.
While I have been laid up I have had time to develop lots of ideas that were in the "back of my head" and we will have some killer new products soon. I am working on some right now.
You can find me back at the Torres shop Wednesday through Saturday from about 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM California time.
Surgery:
Some of you know that I have been ill on and off for quite a while now, (about 8 years) and pretty consistently ill for the last year and a half with an ailment called “Achalasia”.
This has kept me out of the shop occasionally in the past, and pretty frequently in the last 18 months, usually with intense pain.
My stay in the hospital will be fairly short, but recovery will take a while as I am diabetic and that slows down healing quite a bit.
