What happened to the words BluesCaster?
It appears that Fender feels you (the customers and guitar owners) would be confused by the term BluesCaster, confusing a wiring harness with a complete guitar. Of course we don't think anyone is that dumb, but to maintain good relationships we have changed the name to a different spelling "BluesKaster" as opposed to BluesCaster with the C.
The term, or more detailed definition, the suffix "Kaster" was and is owned by Gretsch and Fender lost a "discussion" (in gentle terms) in about 1948 when they issued the Broadcaster guitar, as Gretsch already had a"BroadKaster" drum set prior to Fender's license. Fender was required to come up with the new name "Telecaster" alluding to the new Television invention at the time.
Of course many other commercial items were named "Broadcaster" prior to 1948 - old radio magazines and books dating to the 1930's show "radio sets" - short wave radios, named the "XXX Broadcaster" under several brands - some still in existence, some long gone.
Other very interesting historical sources have shown that Gretsch used the "BroadKaster" name on several other products including harmonicas!! All prior to 1948.
